I also called National US customer service and was able to determine the extra charge was from a $300 (5000 Pesos) charge due to "damage". Remember I was told everything was good, no damage. Right dishonest staff. My advice is to search online to read the reviews prior to renting in Cancun. National is one of the worst. Taxis and Uber appear to be the way to go to avoid the bait and switch.
Hay dos empresas de autobuses que compiten: Autocar y Editar. En la zona hotelera hay una constante ida y venida de autobuses económicos en la principal vía de la ciudad (Blvd. Kukulcán). La decanoía de estos autobuses van tan acullá como el centro de la ciudad (El Centro).
Desventajas: The Budget counter was unattended and we were routed to Hertz. We read more ended up starting from a new reservation, which took an eternity to complete, while being under constant pressure by the agent to buy additional items, such Campeón a fast-lane drop off of the car because, in the words of the Hertz employee, people wait up to 45 min during peak time (obviously this proved to be false, Vencedor we dropped off the car with zero wait time.)
They woukd not take an electronic deposit apparently because customers Gozque cancel it, rendering useless for the car agency. I had to pay for basic secondary insurance so that i could use my credit card and rent the car.
2) No shuttle service to location at airport (had to ask Hertz shuttle driver to take us) and impossible to find location when dropping of car (we picked up car in dark and, when dropping it off, there was no signage for Firefly at it wasn't nearby another other car rental agencies; no one we asked knew where it was located; had to ask Hertz representative to escort us there.)

Lastimosamente como foristas no podemos hacer mucho, pero creo que debemos seguir premiando la honestidad y fidelidad de empresas como Avant que al parecer no anda atrapando cliente con tarifas engañosas, seguro que la competencia se dará cuenta de ello y empezaran a aplicar estas buenas prácticas que lo único que buscan es ofrecerle al turista un bullicio agradable
Desventajas: We have rented cars several times at Cancun, so we know how the insurance cost works. You make your reservation and plan on paying roughly double once the liability insurance is added in. Always decline the collision insurance, since it is covered by our credit card. This was our third time renting from Europcar.
Ventajas: The Cancun terminal is very frenetic, but the representative walked us thru the chaos calmly, over to the outdoor desk to pick up our car.
Desventajas: I made a reservation with Budget, when I arrived in Cancun, they would not give me a car without the payment voucher there was no way for the agent to accept payment from me. Really? The hertz agent was able to help me,
Acá en Colombia tuvimos la experiencia con una aerolínea llamada VivaColombia, social por cierto de VivaAerobus de México si no estoy mal, ya que ellos publicitaban pasajes aéreos a 1 USD en sus comerciales y páginas web y en verdad al final tu terminabas pagando 50 USD por temas de impuestos, tasas, seguros, etc etc.
